Integrating Gender-Affirming Care and HIV Prevention and Care for TGNC People: Concepts and Practice

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Discuss basic concepts relevant to the lives of transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) individuals that enhance cultural awareness including physical and mental health, discrimination, stigmatization, and bias useful in improving engagement and retention in HIV testing, prevention, and care.
  • Relate the genetic, ethnic, behavioral, physiological and pharmacological considerations to the real world, clinical care or TGNC people.
  • Identify and implement appropriate strategies to enhance HIV prevention and treatment for TGNC patients.
