Description:

MATEC's six-session 2025 HIV Intensive Nursing Review serves as
an intensive review for nurses and other healthcare professionals involved in
HIV and AIDS care. The course is designed to offer a comprehensive review of
HIV-related information and to be interactive to allow attendees to share
ideas, information, and experiences, and will be held virtually- both live on
Zoom and through pre-recorded lectures.

Objectives:

  • Define the following terms and describe how they apply to the
epidemiology of HIV/AIDS: prevalence, incidence, cumulative incidence,
risk, risk factor, and risk group.
  • Describe trends in the rates of new HIV infections and AIDS-related
deaths globally and in the United States.
  • Describe what the cascade of care for people with HIV is and the
significance of each stage in the care continuum.
  • Discuss HIV anatomy and cellular mechanisms of infection.
