This training is for all healthcare professionals, including health educators, mental health providers, substance abuse professionals, social workers, case managers, professional counselors and public health professionals.

Description:

This training provides education, support and tools to healthcare team members who are interested in providing gender affirming competent care and hormone treatment to enhance services within the transgender community.

Objectives:

  • Review gender affirming care principles
  • Discuss importance of hormone care for long term health
  • Review hormone therapy recommendations including feminizing and masculinizing hormones
  • Discuss health complications/concerns 

Continuing Education Credits: Continuing Education Credits for Nurses and Social Work are provided by Oakton Community College/Alliance for Lifelong Learning/Continuing Education for Health Professionals. Oakton Community College is an approved sponsor of continuing education through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Continuing education credit provided for nurses and social workers. To receive credit participants must attend the entire activity and complete an evaluation form.
