Suicide and Overdose among People with HIV during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Updates and Opportunities for Mitigation

This is session 5 of the AETC Program HIV and SARS-CoV-2 Winter Webinar Series. This webinar will address increases in overdose and suicides in people with HIV during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand that rates of overdose death have increased around the country during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Identify three concrete steps providers can take to address overdose risk in their patients with substance use disorder
  • Identify at least two risk factors for suicidal ideation in patients with HIV
  • Identify at least two factors on how COVID-19 impacts the mental health of people with HIV
