The National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD) has released an interactive and web-based resource to support Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part B AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAPs) in communicating their role in securing access to HCV treatment to providers. This provider decision tree outlines treatment coverage options available to people living with HIV and HCV, including ADAP. While many ADAPs cover directly acting antiviral (DAA) HCV medications in instances in which other payers (e.g., Medicaid, private insurance) deny coverage, the broader health care landscape remains confusing for clients and providers to navigate. Many providers do not maximize all available treatment opportunities, instead relying solely on pharmaceutical companies’ patient assistance and cost-sharing assistance programs. This tool was produced with support from HRSA HAB.
