The Health Screening Recommendations for Trans Men and the Health Screening Recommendations for Trans Women pocket cards are accessible and easy to read resources that can be utilized in primary care and specialty care settings. The goal of these pocket cards is to increase providers’ competency in discussing sexual and reproductive health with their transgender patients. These guides reference recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, World Professional Association for Transgender Health, and UCSF Center for Excellence for Transgender Health. Very few concise resources exist regarding sexual health screening recommendations for transgender patients and the MidAtlantic AETC felt that this was a gap in provider knowledge that needed to be filled. In addition to sexual health screening guidelines, these guides also include best practices for providing affirming care, tips for successful clinical encounters with transgender patients, and a sample script for taking a sexual health history.
