During this event, best practices for conducting comprehensive HIV prevention and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) Assessments for underserved communities will be provided by a physician subject-matter expert. Strategies and recommendations are intended to support clinicians working in primary care and HIV clinic settings. 

Objectives

  • Define the state of the HIV and STI epidemics in the US and how they disproportionally affect underserved communities
  • Identify the basics and importance of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention.
  • Explain the principles of comprehensive sexual health and sexual history taking.
  • Recognize special considerations in caring for underserved populations using a risk-reduction philosophy.
