 This one-day interactive training focuses on developing an understanding of patient experiences within the healthcare system, with a specific focus on people with HIV, and considers how providers can integrate whole person-centered care into their practice. The training will describe strategies that consider power dynamics and build on resilience and understanding to engage and motivate clients to better health outcomes and healing.

Objectives

  • Define whole person-centered care to apply to working with people with HIV
  • Increase knowledge of the connection between HIV and the impacts of life experiences, and obstacles to engagement in care
  • Increase knowledge of the principles of a whole person-centered care approach
  • Build skills in using strategies to reduce distress and highlight resilience for people with HIV
  • Increase knowledge of strategies to support provider self-care to work more effectively with patients and clients with HIV
