This MATEC's six-session 2026 HIV Intensive Nursing Review serves as an intensive review for nurses and other healthcare professionals involved in HIV and AIDS care. The course is designed to offer a comprehensive review of HIV-related information and to be interactive, to allow attendees to share ideas, information, and experiences.

Objectives

  •  Define the following terms and describe how they apply to the epidemiology of HIV/AIDS: prevalence, incidence, cumulative incidence, risk, risk factor, and risk group. 
  • Describe trends in the rates of new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths globally and in the United States. 
  • Identify risk factors for HIV infection and key populations who are at increased risk of infection. 
  • Describe what the cascade of care for people with HIV is and the significance of each stage in the care continuum.
