This course will cover intermediate MI concepts and practices via didactics, case discussion, and demonstrations/practice. The training will be highly interactive and participants will receive real-time feedback on MI skills.

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance showing 6.5 hours of attendance

Objectives

  • Develop a working knowledge of MI concepts and practices
  • Understand the key issues in evoking client motivation to change
  • Develop awareness and basic skills in using broader MI counseling strategies
  • Be able to use key MI communication techniques OARS
  • Understand the four processes of MI – engaging, focusing, evoking and planning
  • Experience/observe MI counseling practice
