Objectives

  • Describe the prevalence and impact of substance use disorders among people with HIV, including effects on treatment adherence, viral suppression, and overall health outcomes.
  • Identify evidence-based approaches for screening, diagnosing, and managing substance use disorders in people with HIV, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and harm reduction strategies.
  • Apply integrated, patient-centered care strategies that address both HIV and substance use disorders and interdisciplinary collaboration.
