HIV prevention has been a high priority in an effort to end the HIV epidemic, however not many clinicians feel comfortable managing HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Exposure to HIV is a medical emergency and timely administration of medication is crucial in preventing infection. This ECHO series will provide the information, resources, and tools necessary to empower providers to confidently prescribe non-occupational PEP to those at risk for HIV infection in our community. The course will address not only medical management but also the psychosocial, legal, and financial components of providing holistic care those at risk for HIV infection.

Objectives

  • Manage HIV PEP for individuals at risk for HIV infection in accordance with current clinical guidelines.
  • Describe the psychosocial, legal, and financial components of providing holistic care to those at risk for HIV infection.
  • Identify state and national resources available to support providers
