This training aims to review recent updates regarding the hepatitis B virus and the hepatitis C virus, including those living with HIV. Preventing the transmission of these viruses, especially in healthcare settings, and post-exposure management are paramount. The training promotes interprofessional collaboration and communication between medical and dental teams. This continuing educational session will promote provider understanding and improve systems to enhance health outcomes, especially for people with HIV and with or at risk for hepatitis C and hepatitis B.
Objectives
- Describe current transmission risks and infection control principles for viral hepatitis in the dental practice
- Summarize contemporary epidemiology, diagnostic, and treatment strategies for viral hepatitis
- Describe hepatitis co-infection in patients with HIV
