Join the Midwest AETC for an engaging discussion on the barriers that can prevent people from accessing and staying engaged in HIV care. This session will explore common challenges and practical, patient-centered strategies to improve access, strengthen engagement in care, and support better health outcomes for people living with HIV.

Objectives

  • Define and describe barriers to care
  • Describe how barriers to care impact a client’s ability to engage in care, be retained in care, and achieve sustained viral suppression
  • Describe at least one causal pathway a particular barrier creates for accessing HIV care and prevention
  • Develop the skill to assess barriers to care with clients
  • Identify at least one strategy to address barriers and promote HIV healthcare access with clients and communities
