The training will provide an overview of the syndemic of HIV, Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), and Substance Use Disorder (SUD). A review of epidemiology and prevalence data of HIV and HCV among people with SUD will lead to a further discussion of which groups of people who use substances are at greatest risk for HIV/HCV acquisition. Treatment strategies, including group approaches to management of HIV, HCV, and SUD, will be explored, as well as strategies to utilize this framework to maximize clinician time in managing patients with multiple complex conditions.
