Description
The Connecticut Mental Health & HIV Symposium is a CME-accredited, in-person training that brings together clinicians, counselors, case managers, and community partners for a focused day of whole-person care, mental health, and HIV.Under the theme Whole-Person Care: Aligning Mental Wellness with HIV Prevention, Care, & Treatment, the symposium examines how mental health shapes outcomes across the HIV continuum. Sessions will address three connected stages of care: supporting the mental wellness of people at elevated risk who are not living with HIV, so prevention efforts are grounded in the realities of stress, substance use, stigma, and access to care; preparing people who are newly diagnosed for long-term success, including linkage to treatment, disclosure, adherence, and early emotional support; and sustaining mental health care for people living with HIV, including managing co-occurring conditions, aging with HIV, and staying engaged in treatment over time.
