This lecture will cover the epidemiology and biology of HIV-associated disease and discuss benign and neoplasms known to be associated with Human papillomavirus (HPV).

Objectives

  • Understand how HPV can affect cell function and potentially contribute to carcinogenesis
  • Become familiar with the epidemiology of HPV infection, especially as it impacts people with HIV
  • Understand the risk factors for HPV infection of the head and neck
  • Recognize early and more recent evidence for the effectiveness of HPV vaccination
