Objectives
- Describe the role of medication management in addressing substance use disorders among people with HIV, including its impact on retention in care, antiretroviral adherence, and viral suppression.
- Identify appropriate pharmacologic treatment options for substance use disorders in people with HIV, including considerations for drug–drug interactions with antiretroviral therapy and strategies to support safe prescribing.
- Apply integrated, team-based care approaches to support medication adherence and improve health outcomes in people with HIV and substance use disorders, incorporating harm reduction, patient engagement, and coordination of services.
