Join the Southeast AETC for an informative discussion exploring neurodiversity in the context of HIV care. This session will cover foundational concepts, epidemiologic considerations, and health outcomes, while highlighting opportunities for healthcare providers to deliver more inclusive, patient-centered care for neurodivergent people living with HIV.

Objectives

  • Define neurodiversity and distinguish it from traditional medical-model frameworks
  • Recognize the intersectionality: prevalence and overlap of Autism spectrum disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and co-occurrence and relevance in populations affected by HIV
  • Identify key clinical considerations, including mental health comorbidities, cognitive factors, and structural barriers impacting outcomes in neurodivergent individuals
