Long-acting injectable antiretroviral therapy (LAI ART) is transforming HIV care, but many clinics still face real-world hurdles in getting these programs off the ground. From workflow design, to staff training, to patient education, implementing LAI ART takes time, coordination, and the right tools.
ALAI UP is a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)-funded Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) and Minority HIV/AIDS Fund Initiative collaboration led by the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
ALAI UP is a project to help clinics launch and sustain iCAB/RPV programs (LAI ART). Through customized protocols, hands-on technical assistance, provider training, and continuous evaluation at eight demonstration sites, ALAI UP works to address the logistical and structural challenges that often limit access in communities with the highest burden of HIV. Our goal is to expand access to iCAB/RPV and reduce differences in HIV outcomes among populations disproportionately affected by the epidemic.
