I am an infectious disease physician who has been involved in clinical care and outreach professional education regarding HIV since the late 1980s. I was founding director of the Virology Treatment Center at Maine Medical Center in 1991, and continue to serve as its Medical Director as well as the Division Director for Infectious Diseases at Maine Medical Center. Our interdisciplinary center serves as a consultation clinic and resource in Maine for patients with HIV and hepatitis B/C . We are an educational site for Tufts medical students, medical and ob/gyn residents, and infectious disease fellows, as well as pharmacy residents and social work trainees. Our interdisciplinary team includes additional infectious disease specialists, a hepatologist, nurse practitioners, a social worker, a doctor of pharmacy, and a nutritionist. We have a long history of involvement in outreach professional education in Maine. In the past few years launched an ECHO project to assist providers with management of patients with hepatitis C. My academic affiliation is with the Tufts University School of Medicine where I serve as a Professor of Medicine.
